FAQs
Absolutely! With just a little desire and determination along with the guidance of a good instructor, anyone can improve their singing abilities. Our personalised vocal lessons focus on nurturing authentic self-expression and building confidence from a spiritually integrated approach, regardless of your starting point. Many of our students are from different age range and backgrounds with varying levels of skill, from those working on pitch and rhythm to more experienced singers seeking to refine their technique.
Remember, progress takes time and everyone develops at their own pace. While setting reasonable goals is important, the key to vocal lessons is to feel comfortable and enjoy the process while being challenged. Natural talent can be an asset, but your willingness and dedication to learn are what truly matter. With time and practice, you may surprise yourself and everyone around you with how much you can grow, not just in your voice but in your energy and presence.
With vocal lessons, you should notice improvements in your singing voice fairly quickly. The insights and techniques you learn will likely shape your approach to singing from the very first lesson. However, the number of lessons you'll need depends on several factors, including your initial vocal abilities, your learning pace, personal goals, and the frequency of your lessons.
It's important to have open discussions about your goals and progress with us. We’re committed to providing honest feedback and will not pressurise you to continue indefinitely if you’re not seeing results. Your journey is personal, and you should feel empowered to make decisions that suit your needs.
Taking singing lessons from a spiritual approach is a unique and enriching experience that goes beyond traditional vocal training. In this framework, singing is viewed not just as a technical skill, but as a profound form of self-expression and connection to one’s inner self and the greater universe.
Our lessons focus on nurturing the whole person - mind, body, and spirit, with mindfulness techniques incorporated to connect with your voice on a deeper level. Through guided exercises, you may find yourself processing feelings and experiences, leading to personal growth and transformation. Additionally, you will benefit from a supportive community that encourages collaboration and shared exploration, enhancing your overall journey.
We encourage creative exploration of various musical styles and genres that resonate with your spirit. This process allows you to discover your unique sound, empowering you to express your true self. The genres we commonly teach include pop, R&B, classical, jazz, and spiritual and healing music. Each style offers distinct opportunities for personal expression, helping you connect more deeply with your musical journey.
Yes, we offer ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) enrolment for classical singing. Our classical programme is designed to help students prepare for ABRSM examinations for performance grades, providing them with the essential skills and techniques needed to succeed.
Generally, children can begin taking vocal lessons around the age of 7, when their vocal cords are more developed and they can better understand concepts like breath control and pitch. At this age, our lessons focus on fostering a love for music, building confidence, and encouraging proper singing techniques in a fun and supportive environment.
For younger children below 7, our lessons emphasise more on creativity and expression through singing without the pressure of formal vocal training. These sessions help nurture their passion for music while allowing them to explore their voices playfully.
If you're considering serious vocal training for your child, it would be best to wait until after puberty (around age 14 for girls and after voice changes for boys), when their voices are more mature physically and they are cognitively ready to grasp vocal techniques. Parents should assess their child's readiness for lessons, as early training may not provide a significant competitive advantage. Alternatively, encouraging participation in age-appropriate singing activities, such as our MINI programme or children's ensembles, including TINY TUNES and LITTLE HARMONIES, can help build confidence and nurture a love for singing without pressure. This approach prepares them for more serious study when the time is right.
Our group vocal lessons focus on individual singing techniques within a structured core programme and can accommodate a maximum of three students. This small group size allows for personalised guidance on vocal techniques and performance skills while benefiting from the dynamics of a close-knit setting. In fact, one-on-one singing lessons are often the most effective due to various personal factors, but students who prefer to learn alongside a companion are also welcome.
In contrast, our ensemble singing lessons emphasise collaboration and teamwork with a higher number of participants, and the size of the ensemble depends on the specific age groupings. In these lessons, students learn to sing together as a larger group, focusing on harmonisation, blend, and overall ensemble dynamics. This approach fosters the development of listening skills and adaptability while creating a cohesive musical performance.
Both types of lessons provide valuable opportunities for growth, serving different purposes in a singer's development.
Men’s and women’s voices have distinct characteristics, but it’s not essential to find a singing teacher of the same gender. We believe that an experienced vocal instructor can effectively teach a diverse range of voices while providing valuable insights into technique and style, regardless of gender. What truly matters is finding a teacher who understands the unique aspects of your voice and can tailor their approach to meet your individual needs.
In our studio, we emphasise a holistic approach that nurtures each student’s individuality, both physically and spiritually, creating a supportive and empowering learning environment. Through our teaching programmes, you will experience our teachers' expertise, unique teaching styles, and their ability to connect deeply with you. This personalised guidance is essential for helping you thrive as a singer, ensuring that you feel confident and inspired on your vocal journey.
Taking vocal lessons can be highly beneficial, even for professional singers. While many possess natural talent, they may still struggle with technique, resulting in vocal fatigue, strain, or injury that can disrupt concert and tour schedules. Additionally, challenges often extend beyond the technical aspects of singing. Our holistic teaching method addresses not only vocal technique but also the mental and spiritual dimensions of performance.
Through our lessons, you can rebuild healthy singing habits and develop the endurance and stamina needed to meet the demands of your performances. You will also benefit from mental support and spiritual guidance to help you navigate challenges and enhance your artistic expression. Moreover, if you’ve experienced any vocal damage, our rehab exercises can provide a safe path to recovery without the need for surgery. By integrating these elements, we empower you to thrive as a singer and become a powerful channel for your unique voice.
Not at all! While we incorporate some classical elements into our teaching, this approach provides a solid foundation in vocal techniques without making you lose your unique style or sound like an opera singer. In fact, classical techniques can significantly enhance your singing abilities in contemporary genres like pop and R&B by developing strong vocal fundamentals. Many successful singers across various genres have benefitted from classical training while maintaining their individuality.
It is essential to understand that classical technique does not aim to create a specific operatic sound. Instead, we will equip you with the skills to apply vocal techniques effectively in any genre you choose. By building a solid foundation, you'll gain flexibility and versatility in your voice, ultimately enhancing your overall tone and performance.
